Four tiger cubs were found dead due to famishment at Saoli Range Territorial area under the Pathari Forest Range of Forest Development Corporation of Maharashtra Limited (FDCM) near Gosikhurd canal on Sunday morning.
The villagers of Pathri who were crossing the Gosikhurd canal reported the matter to the forest officials as they came across 3 dead tiger cubs near the canal. On further conducting a search operation to trace the mother tigress, the forest officials of FDCM found a surviving cub, which was moved to a veterinary hospital in Sindewahi for treatment, but the cub was later brought to Chandrapur as the veterinary doctor at Sindewahi was on leave. The cub died in Chandrapur during treatment.
According to the locals; female tigress was weak in health. The cubs looked starved and died of hunger, as the mother left them. This doesn’t look like a poaching case as all the tiger parts were intact, it looks natural death as the tigress would have left, the cubs as she was unable to hunt and feed them.
